Couple of personal highlights from 2014. 2/14 - Gally1/GallifreyOne/crazy ass Doctor Who obsession 4/4 - Kraftwerk live in concert. Seriously, am I showing my geek credentials yet? 4/16 - reached my highest weight ever at 260.4. Vowed to make immediate changes. Started seeing a nutritionalist and kick started training for the Bike MS ride. Also bought my All City roadbike. 6/7 - 60 mile Bike MS ride with Christopher James De Simone 7/26 - Solo 76.5 mile bike ride on the C&O to Harpers Ferry WV. Always wanted to go on a cycling adventure, and this was my first trek on the mighty C&O. It was glorious. 7/27 - 86.6 miles back. Personal goal completed. 8/14 - Doctor Who World Tour in NYC. Such an awesome experience it beat out the 50th Anniversary in my heart due to the great people I got to meet - Iris Blue and Tricia Guadagni, thank you for keeping me company in line for 13 hours. 8/31 - 120.9 miles in one day. DC to Brunswick ride on the C&O. Most miles ever cycled in one day. Pretty much killed my friendship with DeSimone. 10/4 - Disneyworld with hubby Reginald and best friend Ken. Weight 190.4. Didn't come back at that weight, and Thanksgiving and Christmas aren't helping, but extremely proud of the accomplishment.

Unfortunately the Grinch arrived early this year for the holidays. Reg and I have been collecting vintage 50's/60's Shiny Brite ornaments since we first met to go on our aluminum Christmas tree. Seems when the kitchen flooded a couple of weeks ago it also flooded the basement. We lost 2 out of the 4 large boxes of ornaments. Could't salvage any of them since the paint and glitter all pealed off. We don't have enough now to put up the tree this year. Trying not to cry. At least we can decorate the mantel.

I completely understand that we don’t all agree on everything. Just last week I hit up against Robot of Sherwood which for me was just dreadful. The difference I feel is that I at least tried to enjoy it. When I couldn’t, and discovered that I was definitely in the minority, I wanted to know what was it with the episode that people enjoyed. I wanted to hear what other people liked about the episode. I even enjoy hearing what people don’t like as long as it’s constructive and still respects other people’s opinions and thoughts. I LOVE HEARING PEOPLE PASSIONATELY TALK ABOUT SOMETHING THEY LOVE ESPECIALLY, DOCTOR WHO. But, when it’s dismissive, rude, and entitled, please do me and everyone else that I’m friends with a favor and think about your comments before posting them. Does your comments respect other people online who might not agree with you but who also love the show? Perhaps it might be time for you to give the show a rest if it bothers you that much. It’s OK. There really is a plethora of quality shows out there. It might actually be healthy to branch out.

So after work I had to run over to the mall. Passing by Abercrombie & Fitch I noticed they had cute t-shirts in the window display with bicycles on them. Let me just state now for the record that I am not one to shop at this store. Anyway, I thought to myself that with all the weight I have lost I would treat myself to this cute bicycle shirt. The sizes of this shirt were S, Med, and XXL. Even the XXL was so tight on me I could barely breathe. Was told by the sales twinkie that it in was their "muscle" sizes, which ran large. After watching S02E02 of Utopia, I think this might be my favorite show (for the moment). If you haven't seen season 1 watch it, it's awesome and season 2 is surpassing it with just it's first two episodes.

First big accident on the All-City bike this morning going into work. Not moving very fast right now and limping. Unfortunately I also took out too other cyclist in the process which I feel horrible about. Swirved to avoid a pack of runners and my back tire slid out from behind me. Oddly, this morning I had a odd (I hate saying this) "premonition" and I wore my helmet, and we all know I never wear my helmet - NEVER. Bike is not moving very well either. Not a good day.

Exploratory mission to the C&O Canal path. It is exactly 6.27 miles to the gates of the C&O in Georgetown from my house. Only 11 miles in and already I am questioning the rational of biking to Harpers Ferry WV.

New York City highlights - High Line, Central Park, cool friendly bike shops, CabiBiking across the Brooklyn Bridge, Williamsburg cyclists, SkinnySkinny, Mast Brothers Chocolates (yes, it's worth the trek), fitting in Muji clothing, and the realization that I could care less about the majority of the Williamsburg "scene"(though the owner of SkinnySkinny is super fabulous). New York City lows - realization of my crack addiction to NY Pizza, pissy bike shops with attitude, clothing stores with inventory that I will never be able to fit into, and a foot pain from walking that boarders on torture.

Flat tire on the jeep due to a nail that punctured the radial wall (whatever that is). Even biking into work all week and not touching the jeep I still manage to get a flat. UGH!!!

Only three episodes left of Orange is The New Black. Thought spoon feeding myself small dosages, rather than binge viewing, would get me through the vast wasteland of no new Mad Men, Doctor Who, Sherlock and GOT. Suddenly the television landscape is looking pretty bleak for a couple of months.

Discovered Race Pace Bicycles in Baltimore on Federal Hill. Might be my new fav bicycle shop. Definitely worth the drive and great customer service. Purchases - new cycling jersey, a compact pump so I can learn how to change my own tires (eventually), and the Linus Market Panniers for my All City.

Neighbor on my block just came up to me and said that my house color was very spiritual and I should never paint it (his words, not mine). I laughed and called it Barney purple and was going to paint MY HOUSE the first chance possible. He seemed a bit miffed afterwards. Am I missing something here? Was I religiously insensitive? Yesterday was extremely productive after work. Picked out all the bathroom fixtures and tiles for our guest bathroom renovation which is scheduled to start on April 8th. Surprisingly I was under budget with my choices, though the steam shower is still off the table (DAMN YOU Reginald J Richards and your practical nature!!!!!)

While walking back from lunch clutching my ipad air, I remembered being bullied and teased relentlessly in school for amonst countless reasons, holding my books like a girl. Not sure exactly how girls hold their books, but I have always craddled them in my arm against my chest. I'm sure I got into this habit due to the book routinely getting smacked out of my hands and going everywhere. It made me smile today that I still carry my books this same way. It really does get better.

So I'm probably in the worse place ever with my weight, which has me depressed to no end. On top of that I've just signed up for Bike MS again which is in June. Not sure what the hell I'm thinking, but now I'm stressing over a bike ride 5 months away.

Update - we did have a busted water pipe. It was the pipe to the front of the house for my front yard water spicket. Fortunately that pipe can be turned off separate from the others. The water flowing out of the broken pipe went into the sub-basement which has a dirt floor. We lucked out. I don't think our neighbors were as fortunate base on all the water flowing in the alley.
