Ran across a giant turtle crossing the road while walking the dogs. When I say "giant", he was about Tucker's size. I stood back to make sure he made it across the road (and I didn't want him attacking me). A woman in a car drove by, stopped, picked him up, and walked him over to the lake. It's been a rough week. I reached a level of depression and frustration which had me turning everything off. The news and social media were just too much to take with the loss of so many people to the gay and Orlando community, a community which I am now a part of. I just couldn’t handle seeing the final texts of a son to his mother minutes before he is killed. I don’t want to hear your endless debates over your right to buy weapons. I don't care if it was terrorism, a hate crime or whatever... people were killed and it was by an American. I don't want to hear all insanity, because we should be better than this. I just turned it all off. It’s easy for me to do. Too easy, but you feel so dead inside. Today reminded me why I love social media so much. Family, friends, geeks, friends of friends, people I haven't even met but share the same passions with, thank you. I really do love and appreciate the wonderful birthday wishes. Keep watching Doctor Who, geek out, ride a bike, visit the mouse, love something with a passion, be nice to everyone, accept our differences, and please vote Clinton (sorry, had to throw that one in).

So this bike is parked across the street by the lake where we walk the dogs. It is parked in a parking spot in the same place for the past two weeks. Unlocked. Not vandalized. I've seen the owner making loops around the lake. It's not a great bike, but it is still used. This would never happen in DC. This bike would be stripped down to the frame within minutes or completely stolen. This makes me happy with living here in Orlando. I need to focus on the positive right now.

Officially now dive certified. I sure don't feel like celebrating. First time being able to log online since this early morning. Have a three hour drive ahead of me and this state sickens me with gun stands and anti-abortion billboards all along the highway.

Dive today went much better than expected. Had a blast with no panic attacks over the mask. It was beautiful at Blue Grotto. Thanks to all the great instructors and fellow trainees. Tomorrow we head out into the open waters of West Palm Beach. Seriously, I am ready for bed. Can barely keep my eyes open

Yesterday we had our pre-dry wall construction meeting at the new house. It was tedious, but productive going over every socket, switch, cable, and A/C vent in the entire house. It looks like we are now going to close on July 28th, if all goes as planned (which I have no doubt SOMETHING will pop up to throw a wrench into the process).

Seriously, I have been loving all the incredible photos everyone has been posting at Mega/Awesome/SpaceCity Super Ginormous Geek Cons over the past couple of days. Would have loved to be there, but I'm quickly discovering that I have a very low tolerance for crowds and queing up in epic lines (Disney included). While I might not have the opportunity to ever meet Capaldi, Smith, Tennant, or any other new Who stars, I'm very happy sticking to smaller low-key conventions. Gally is my home and has my heart. I miss Baltimore's (Re)Generation Con, even after only attending it the first year. Also, going to try L.I. Who for the first time this year, which I've heard nothing but great things about it. Hope to see my Gally friends there soon.

First day of scuba class in the pool. Passed the swimming test and didn't have an anxiety attack with all the gear on underwater. Struggling to move and stay awake at the moment. Thanks to Christopher for all the help and support.
