Search for the PS4 took me to Best Buy, Target and two Walmarts with no luck. I haven't stepped foot in a Walmart in years. The only reason I went was because their website said it was in stock. Not going inside another store until after the holidays. Over it.

In the process of "decorating the office" for the holidays, an iMac computer was broken. Talk about a complete waste of time and resources. Considering we have been out of the office since Wednesday, I would think there would be a greater focus on getting caught up

Yo local Doctor Who fans (and even curious non-fans... I know you have all seen Day of the Doctor at least a dozen times by now, but I have an extra ticket for the showing tonight at the Hoffman at 7:30pm. If interested please let me know. I would hate for it to go to waste. The Maryland Doctor Who Anonomous group and the Northern Virginia Doctor Who Viewing Society are planning on going, with some sort of meet-up afterwards for drinks and food. I don't know the specifics of this part of the evening.

Special thanks for a couple of friends who have made fandom magical for me: Steve Armstrong - for our time in the early 80's with the Knights of Prydonia pledge drivin for KUHT to keep Doctor Who on the air in Houston. It was great seeing you again at Gally. Chad Graber - for trying to show me how to play the Doctor Who role playing game in high school. Lisa M. Jackson - my viewing partner in crime. Need to get you away from those evil forums... Erik Stadnik - first Doctor Who fan that I met online. My Virgil through the tepid waters of my first Gally. Mark Cockram and Amy Cockram - the highlight of our trip to London was meeting the two of you (and seeing the Gaitis console) The entire GallifreyOne gang including, but not limited to...Deborah Wilson Stanish, Greg McElhatton, Sammi Kat, Felicity Brown, Felicity Kusinitz, Christopher Burgess, Katrina Griffiths Finally, to everyone that I haven't had the pleasure of meeting in person. Your friendship via social networks is just as supportive and meaningful to me. Thanks again!

Surprisingly our neighbor's wifi network is rather strong, though now that we have hooked up the 2 ipads, 2 iphones, the iMac, Reg's MacBook Pro, the PS3, and the two Apple TVs, it might not be as strong. Bah, they are old... they will never notice.

I now feel the need to give you, my dear friends and family on Facebook, a way out. In the next couple weeks a number of things will happen which will make you consider un-friending me on Facebook. With the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who quickly approaching, the number of my Facebook postings concerning the show will greatly increase. I realize this might not be everyone's cup of tea. Let me reassure you, it's OK. I won't think any less of you or hold it against you. Un-friend or hide my feed. It's ok.

Toki Underground. I tried really hard to love you. I know you are the IT place to go on H Street. Hell, I've been trying to walk in your door for months. You have all the right things going for you which I thought I would love - good food, trendy retro 80's dance music blaring, Blade Runner food truck manga skateboard vibe. If you can't give your guests individual tables to sit down at, rather than everyone in the room sitting facing the outer wall in a giant circle, I will not be happy. Perhaps I'm just getting too old for this crap.

Monkii Clip and Cage for the Brompton

Monkii Clip and Cage for the Brompton

With the Bike MS ride quickly approaching (less than a month away) I'm starting to have anxiety over the little details which I can control, as apposed to the larger issues like my weight and lack of training.  With the Brompton, I couldn't figure out what I was going to do about my water bottle.  Didn't want to carry a front bag or keep the water in my Carradice saddlebag which would require me to stop and get off my bike whenever I needed a drink.  There have been rumors of the elusive official Brompton magnetic water bottle holder which has yet to surface.  Enter Monkii, which is a screw mounted clip which attaches to a separate velcro strap water bottle holder.  Purchased it from Cycle Miles in the UK http://www.cyclemiles.co.uk/, after seeing a number of the member of the London Bicycle Club sporting them on their rides.  Haven't had a chance yet to really test it out, but I like how it doesn't interfere with the fold.

Bad Blogger

So what started as a revitalized attempt at blogging every day, has fizzled into me completely forgetting about the site.  Need to rededicate myself yet again...

Anyway on April 24th we got rid of the VW bug convertible in favor of a Jeep Wrangler.  I'm pretty sure this is a plot by Reg to use this as an excuse with buying himself a new car.  I'm not complaining too much.

Next up in major news announcements, I've foolishly signed up for the BikeMS ride on June 8th.  What's crazy is that I'm not volunteering, but agreed to attempt biking for 60 miles in one day for the event.  ON MY BROMPTON.  I have a month in which to magically get into shape and this is causing me great stress to no end.  To put this in perspective, I typically bike just under 20 miles total commuting to work.  There is a 8 hour break in between, which I don't think I will have the luxury of for the BikeMS ride.  There was also a training ride this morning which I failed to go on out of shear laziness.  One of two things will happen.  Either I will flip out and not do it, or I will do it and kill myself in the process.  Either way I'm toast.

OH, and if you would like to donate towards my humiliation, here is my site:

Tour de Cookie

So, after looking at my calendar last year, one of the things which I was very proud over was all the rides I did after getting my Brompton.  This year, now that Spring is here in DC, I would like to continue the trend.  Starting the new year off, my friend Louisa recommended the Tour de Cookie ride in Rockville MD to help abused and neglected children.  If that wasn't a reason enough, THERE WAS COOKIES!!!!   Dangle a carrot in front of me, and my lazy ass won't go anywhere... but a cookie...  Not only did you get great homemade cookies, but at the end I also got my first cycling medal.  Might seem silly to serious cyclists since the ride was only around 15 miles, but I love it.
Had tons of fun and met some great new people.  Will certainly sign up for the ride again next year.

I'm confused, is it the red or blue profile photo that we should use? AGHHHHHH, feelin the pressure to follow everyone else!

Weekend was spent cleaning up the Brompton after commuting in the rain last week.  The bike was a complete mess despite having got a new chain the week before.  Also made a slight modification to my Carradice saddle bag.  The bike needed some Doctor Who swag on it.

Also did some baking with my new cookie cutters from WarpZone Prints.  Very happy with how they turned out visually, though the recipe I used isn't the tastiest cookie.  Tried frosting them, but I liked how they turned out without it.

Brompton Commute

So I'm horribly lazy and really out of shape.  With the UK trip looming in August and spring weather slowly arriving in DC, I honestly have no excuse not to bike into work.  Well, I can always come up with excuses...  Seriously, I'm rather fortunately in that my office is right off the Mt. Vernon bike trail.  It's just over 9 miles from my front door to the office and I get to pass all the major monuments along the National Mall.  It's a beautiful ride.

Beautiful weekend in DC

It was a crazy weekend, but I was able to get a number of things accomplished and had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather.
Saturday
Saturday morning Reg and I took the Bromptons in for their annual servicing at Bikes Vienna.  Considering we've had them less than a year now, I'm not sure why we did it, but Reg was set on getting his bike in top shape especially after his accident in Philadelphia in the fall.  I ended up needing a new chain, which I'm still trying to figure out why or what I did to cause that.  Like to think it's from all the riding.
After dropping off the bike, we came extremely close to buying a new Jeep Wrangler.  My VW bug is 3 years old, and for some odd reason Reg feels that it's time to trade it in for a new vehicle.  While I would love to get a new car and I certainly love the look and feel of the new jeeps, practical Jason does not understand this whole car fixation.  If it was a bike... completely different story.  As of now, I think we are just waiting to find the right combination of color and features before buying.  Personally I'm still extremely happy with my VW, and looking forward to driving around with the top down come spring.
Car shopping then turned into dashing off to my friend Greg's house to watch the Jon Pertwee's episode of Carnival of Monsters.  Erik also showed up, so it turned into a mini-gay-Gally-reunion.  Need to keep this up.  Hate just seeing everyone at GallifreyOne.  As far as Carnival, I can honestly say I've never seen it before.  It was rather difficult for me to figure out what the hell was going on with all the politics on Inter Minor.  Fortunately we had Jo Grant's boots and rolled up jean shorts to keep us entertained.  It was a long and tedious episode for me, the only highlights were the chemistry between the Doctor and Jo, and my fellow viewers who made it all the more entertaining.
Sunday
I unfortunately agreed to go see Oz on the first truly beautiful day of 2013.  The movie is horrible.  After the first 20 minutes, I knew it was a mistake.   I should have been outside enjoying the weather.  Instead, I was trapped in a dark movie theater subjected to James Franco.  Carnival of Monsters was more entertaining and the special effects far better, and I realize that's saying a lot considering how bad Carnival has aged.
I was able to finally get on the bike after a long winter hiatus.  Was able to get in a 14 mile trek, which I'm paying for today,

Gallifrey One 2014

logo

Registration went on sale today for Gallifrey One, the annual pilgrimage to Los Angeles for Doctor Who fans.  After attending the past two years, for a few seconds I actually considered not going.  It had nothing to do with the convention or the incredible friends I've met.  I actually thought for a very brief second that perhaps there was something else I would want to do next year in mid-February.  As the minutes grew closer to when the tickets went on sale, I grew more and more sure that the only place I wanted to be in February 2014 was at LobbyCon with my people.  It's all about Doctor Who and also has absolutely nothing to do with the show.  Not sure if that makes any sense to anyone else, but it was perfectly clear that I was going to get that registration today

UK Vacation

Very excited.  We are finally booking our trip to England in August.  Looks like I even got Reg to agree on a day trip to Cardiff so I can go to the Doctor Who Experience.  I swear, it was never in my mind that we would be in the UK for the 50th anniversary year of Doctor Who.  The key is to not make it seem like the entire trip is about Doctor Who so that it pisses off Reg.  I will need to try and focus on other "things", though I've already mapped out every shop and site that's Doctor Who related.  Not healthy.

Gallifrey One 2013

So, just wanted to say that if ever you have the opportunity or desire to attend GallifreyOne in Los Angeles, do it. I am fortunate that this was my second year in a row going, and I am already excited about 2014. I say this not to boast or gloat, but to encourage any fans of Doctor Who to go.

It is such a great feeling being surrounded by so many creative and passionate people who are not only welcoming, but also share your love for the show. If your fandom takes you into cosplay, costuming, fan fiction, podcasting, collecting merchandise, comics, legos or WHATEVER (Barbie Doctor Who fans, who knew?), it’s there.

Most important, I’ve met some incredible people that I truly consider friends. Now that I've had time to recover from it all, I just wanted to say thank you and I hope to see you next year if not sooner.
