There were no Christmas cards sent out or days spent baking my gingerbread cookies this year. I apologize for being a bad friend and neighbor. I just didn't have the strength in me this year.

My cold dead cynical heart loved every minute of Mary Poppins Returns. It hits that nostalgia sweet spot of those that grew up on old school Disney, and the yearly showings of Willy Wonka, The Wizard of Oz and The Sound of Music. It's corny, and it revels it in with all abandon. Is Devil Wears Prada woman Julie Andrews? No, but she nails it. I even loved this young Bert ex-Hamilton guy (Reg had to tell me who he is, no interest in Hamilton so please spare me your squeeing over your expensive as all hell theater tickets).

Productive trip home to Galveston. It was great seeing mom and dad. So grateful to have Reginald’s help and support for it. Beyond exhausted and happy to be home. I miss Albee and Tucker.

Let’s say you have older parents who aren’t tech savvy and can’t use a “smart”phone. If you have any possible idea/notion of switching them to or trying a Jitter Bug, save your time, money and peace of mind and DON’T. I have never been so FUCKING pissed off at a company for trying to active two phones with their service. Three hours wasted. Hung up on once, lied to twice over added features, and told to wait 24 hours to active one phone because of an error activating which they then placed a hold on the account. Oh, to have voice mail you also need to supposedly pay for a health emergency add on feature. WTF?!?!! Great Call/ Jitterbug is GOD DAMN EVIL!

Will be in Houston/Galveston till the 5th. Quick visit to take care of some much needed legal issues with the parents. I swear I don’t intentionally plan these trips each year during Dicken’s On The Strand.

OMG where the hell did this Love, Simon movie come from??? Forcing me to cry over this melodramatic coming out of the closet teen angst crap. UGH, it’s so sappy feel good and everyone is so good to each other. When does the main character get beat up???

Fell into the pool for the first time this morning. Clothes, shoes and phone are soaking wet. Not sure if I’m starting off the weekend on the right foot. I need to go back to bed.

Really enjoying (not sure if that is the right term for being creeped out) by Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House. If looking for a slow burn spooky haunted house series to binge, I highly recommend it. Only on episode 3, and so far it’s big on the unnerving atmosphere with NO blood and gore.

Netflix’s new series Maniac looks and feels like an extended episode of FX’s Legion, and I love it.

I am so friggin tired of weeding and taking care of this damn lawn. What makes it worse we pay for lawn care, sprinklers, sprinkler maintenance, and premium chemical treatment for the yard from Heron. Why the hell am I pulling crabgrass out of my lawn at 8pm at night and getting eaten by mosquitoes??? What are we paying these people for??? So ready to pull out all the St. Augustine grass and put down rocks and cactus everywhere.

While the D parks are all decorated for the fall season, Florida residents are right smack in the middle of summer. It's frigging hot and humid outside, and only 9:30 in the morning. I almost feel that the Food and Wine Festival is the start of the fall season here. Still in shorts and t-shirts even then, but it gets me in the mood for the holidays. Quick update. Been a rough couple of days. Albee has been really sick. With him being 15 years old now, it really scared me. Thankfully he seems to be doing much better today and even went for a walk with us this early morning. Also, A/C went out yesterday which was HELL. Had to replace the entire unit. Yes, we are in a new house and only 2 weeks outside of our warrenty. Can't even think of the money...Again, not the best week for the Phillips-Richards household but it is done and over.

Pretty excited. Mom and dad are driving from Galveston to visit us and are hopefully arriving today. This will be Dad's first visit to see the new house. They have been taking it slow and steady. I even sent dad our old garmin gps to help show him the way. I haven't seen my parents since last Thanksgiving.

So I think Tucker is a pretty adorable dog. While waiting in the lobby to see the vet, a basset hound puppy was brought in. Poor Tucker was chopped liver after that. This puppy was walking on it's own ears and stumbling. It was the cutest thing ever. Her name was Minnie.

I am in awe over how great Pose is on FX. I never thought a Ryan Murphy (throw all the shit at the wall and see what sticks) show would bring me so much joy. Sandra Bernhard playing a nurse on an AIDS ward with her wonderful foul language is brilliant.

Question for those who have already finished watching Anne With an E on Netflix. Those who cry “spoilers” move on now and just stop reading this. Was Josephine Barry a lesbian in the Megan Fellows tv series or in the books? Also what the hell is up with the serious pandering to the gay fans of the series with this Cole character? It was all a bit too much for me. The suffering artist persecuted and bullied for being different was just too heavy handed and drawn out. Josephine does know how to throw a pretty awesome party. Her yes, Cole tragic artist...NOPE.

Talk to me people about this Handmaid Peggy from Mad Men show. We just got Hulu. I know it is critically acclaimed but is it worth watching, or will I want to just curl up in a ball in a dark closet and cry after watching it? I know it’s supposedly dark, but is there any hope or happiness to it? I like a glimmer of hope sprinkled across my dystopian sci-fi shows.

Let us take a moment to remember our good friends who weren't able to book the Marriott LAX for Gallifrey One 2019. It might feel like the darkest hour right now, but it gets better. Trust, I know... one year, yes ONE DARK DEPRESSING YEAR I TOO HAD TO SLUM IT AT THE RENAISSANCE ALL THE WAY AROUND THE CORNER!!! I know it's hard to believe but it's true. The walk is insurmountable especially after partying at Lobbycon till three in the morning with the supposed "shuttle" only running till 2am. I FEEL YOUR PAIN!

Remember last year when I was all “look at my cool banana trees”? It was cool because we were here in Florida and I could now grow something in my yard. It was very tropical and I felt very farmer-esque doing it. Getting close to nature, doing MY part for the environment. Well those two dead banana trees have now mutated into 16 baby trees. They are friggin popping up everywhere now!!!

When we first decided to move to Orlando, one of my goals was to try and find the courage to participate in a RunDisney 5k event. Happy to announce that I have completed all four disney 5k runs - Star Wars, Food and Wine, Marathon Weekend, and finally the Princess Run. Am I moving up to 10ks now? HELL NO. This fat guy is over it. I got my medals now bring on my commercial endorsements for Nike so I can retire.

Perhaps it’s not the best time to bring your annoying yippy dog on a leash to Wide World of Sports during the Princess Marathon registration. Also it might not be the best time to sit right down in the middle of a walkway full of people. There is no parade here. I’m ready to kill people.
